SLS provides Spanish Literacy, Arithmetic Skills, and basic English literacy classes to newcomer adults, children, and teenagers that don’t know how to read and write.

How does it work?

SLS Coaches teach Literacy to Spanish-speaking adults after their work hours. Classes usually start around 6:00 p.m. at a convenient location.

The program provides 2 Literacy Levels with 3 phases each.

      • Level 1 (3 phases / 9 months total)
        – Spanish Literacy
        – Basic Arithmetic skills- Level 1

        • Level 2  (3 phases / 9 months total)
          – Writing grammatically correct basic sentences and basic paragraphs in Spanish
          – Basic Arithmetic skills – Level 2
          – Introduction to basic phonics – special sounds, blends, words, phrases, and basic sentences in English so they have a basic literacy foundation for continuing to increase their English proficiency at our local English teaching institutions.

SLS will provide these services in person, in partnership with Marin County public school districts, and local community organizations.

For more information on how to partner with SLS and bring these services to your community, contact Estela Mérida Godfrey at, spanishliteracyservices@gmail.com.
